Watch WWE WrestleMania 29 PPV Live On iPhone, iPad, Android, Xbox And Windows 8

The biggest event in the World Wrestling Entertainment calendar is WrestleMania, and as fans of the WWE will be more than aware, WrestleMania 29 kicks off tomorrow in New York. With The Rock taking on John Cena for the WWE Championship, some 90,000 fans are expected to turn out to the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to see it. If you’re not among the ticketholders, however, there’s always pay-per view, and with so many ways purchasing and watching what promises to be an enthralling event, here we’re going to look to how you can tune in if you don’t have cable.

For those on iOS and Android, the WWE app will allow you to watch the event in its entirety on your iPhone, iPad or Android smartphone, although the price may put some people off. In order to access the showing of WrestleMania 29, you will have to stump up an eye watering $59.99. On the plus side, your $59.99 will allow you to watch reruns for a few weeks following tomorrow’s event, but thereafter, you will have to stump up $20 to view it from the archives.

These kinds of events are always expensive, and if you’ve a bunch of friends that are also wrestling fans, your best bet is to congregate in one living room, split the PPV fee, and enjoy a much cheaper WrestleMania 29. Even if none of you have cable, the iPhone and iPad app supports AirPlay, so provided you have an Apple TV, you can readily stream it straight through to the little black box.

Those on Xbox LIVE can tune in by using the brand-new app released yesterday, and although the same price point applies, it’s another option to consider.

On Windows 8 and RT, the WWE app will also be streaming the event live, so whether you’re at the desktop or on your Windows 8 tablet, you won’t miss a second of the action.

The Rock and John Cena’s battle may be the one attracting the most attention, but there are plenty of very exciting matchups besides. The Undertaker will be taking on CM Punk while the veteran Triple H will be locking horns with Brock Lesnar, making WrestleMania 29 one of the most eagerly-anticipated in recent memory.

How To Check If An iPhone Or Android Device Is Factory Unlocked Or Not

One of the perceived downsides of the smartphone industry is the monopolization of devices through carrier locking. At point of sale and when you sign up to a contract with a carrier, it’s understandable, but thereafter, getting a handset unlocked can be a trying, if not impossible process. If you want to check whether your device is unlocked for use on any network, a nifty online service completely has your back, and not only is the website incredibly easy to use, but if you’re on Android, there’s also an app available to download over at the Google Play Store. More details after the break.

There are many reasons why you may want to check whether your device is unlocked. It might just be that you’re curious, and wish to know that if you wanted to switch over to a different carrier, you could do so with minimal fuss. Alternatively, you may be looking to stick your handset on eBay, in which case, you would want to know whether the device was tied down or unlocked so you could accurately notify the prospective buyer. Also, as we know, unlocked devices are more valuable, and if every smartphone were unlocked forever, the world would be a better place.

IMEI.info’s service, as you might have guessed, requires your device’s unique, 15 digit IMEI number in order to work, and once you’ve typed in your magic combination, you’re taken to a page with all sorts of useful information. As well as being able to find out whether your device is unlocked, it will also tell you when your device was released, what type of SIM card it uses, as well as a bunch of hardware specifications.

How to check if your device is locked or unlocked

Step 1: Point your browser to IMEI.info and enter your device IMEI number in the dialog box as shown in the screenshot. You can check your device’s IMEI number by dialing *#06# from the phone app. Once entered, hit the Check button.

Step 1

Step 2: You’ll be taken to a new screen with a bunch of your device information, click on theSIMLOCK & WARRANTY button as shown in the screenshot. This process can take up to a couple of minutes, so be patient.

Step 2

Step 3: Once the process is complete, you’ll get all info on which network the device belongs to and whether it’s SIM unlocked or not.

Step 4

As a supplement to the service on the IMEI.info website, there’s also a an app available to Android users over at the Google Play Store. It provides essentially the same features in a clean, mobile-friendly user interface, and is absolutely free to download and use.

So, if you’re thinking of selling your smartphone, or simply want to be better informed of your device, please head over to IMEI.info from your browser or, if you’re on Android, simply download the app from the link given below. Also, bear in mind that this service works for a bunch of different devices, which means you can check whether or not your Windows Phone device is factory unlocked or not, which is a big golden point.

The FDA Is Worried About You Using The iPhone For Urinalysis

article-0-18526ACB000005DC-592_634x356

The FDA has gone after Biosense, a health startup that makes uCheck, an automated urine analyzer sold directly to end customers. You pee on a strip then use the uChek iPhone app to take a picture and analyze the contents of your urine for health info like glucose. Biosense claims that it can help detect up to 25 diseases, like diabetes, pre-clampsia, and urinary tract infection.

A letter has been sent to Biosense from FDA about its home kit + iPhone app product asking why Biosense hasn’t gotten uCheck officially sanctioned by the government.

Bloomberg reports:
UChek works with test strips made by Siemens AG and Bayer AG, which are only approved for visual reading and require new clearance for automated analysis, the FDA said in the letter. The agency has said it wants stricter rules for apps that directly diagnose or treat conditions, proposing in 2011 to apply similar quality standards as for heart stents, ultrasound machines and other medical devices.
“We intend to finalize the guidance this year,” Synim Rivers, an agency spokeswoman, said yesterday in an e-mail. “The FDA has proposed a regulatory approach that limits its immediate oversight to a specific, small subset of mobile medical applications that are medical devices and present the greatest risk to patient safety if they don’t work as intended.”

This is obviously a sensitive area as companies like Biosense are disrupting an incredibly expensive and profitable healthcare industry that’s rooted in regulation. The FDA doesn’t want uCheck upsetting all of the other companies that are making high-end equipment that does the same thing. Just another example of how smartphones are disrupting the world around us.

The uCheck iPhone app is available for free in the App Store, and the accompanying kit costs $40.

The Badger Cydia Tweak Touches Down On The BigBoss Repo: View Notifications Right From Your Homescreen [VIDEO]

Yet again, another anticipated tweak people been looking forward to was released today called Badger. It was developed by Aehmlo Lxaitn and Brett Schuster and is now available in Cydia’s BigBoss repo for $0.99.
Badger allows users to view notifications by using its default activation method by swiping up on an app icon displaying a badge kind of like Velox. Upon swiping up on an icon a nice pop-up menu will appear containing your unread messages and allows users to delete individual notifications from the interface by swiping to the left, or reveal the entire notification by tapping on it.
This will invoke a scrolling process which is a little slow and users will notice when deleting a specific notification from the Badger window they wont be deleted from the app, nor will the number decrease from the applications badge. There are other activation methods like Tap an App Badge which will be discussed later.

If you experience an application with a badge or unread notification and invoking the Badger window doesn’t work go to Settings/ Notifications/ tap on the application you want and make sure the Badge App Icon toggle is switched to on.

Badger comes with plenty of nice options to customize the tweak. Users have a killswitch, five different animated styles for entering and exiting the Badger pop up interface and in addition there is a contacts picture toggle for interacting with apps that might have pictures displayed.

There are other advanced options such as changing the default activation method from swiping up on an icon to Swiping Down Icon, Double Tap Icon and Tap App Badge. The Double Tapp Icon method takes longer to launch an app and the Tap an App Badge might require a little practice because you need to tap the right spot. Multiple Activation Dismiss allows you to use the same activation method used to activate Badger to dismiss Badger, and Switch Action Page changes the swipe direction of Badger’s action page. Finally, disable for apps allows you to disable Badger for specific apps.
I think it’s a pretty cool idea to interact with your app’s notifications and hopefully we will see some improvement in new versions. It seems like the developers are devoted to the tweak and the user experience. Lets us know what you think of the Badger tweak below in the comment section.

Keep Yourself From Falling Asleep When Driving With The Drive Awake iOS App

Falling asleep when driving for long distances is nothing new, it happens to all of us. It’s also quite dangerous as you may lose control of the car and crash into something or someone. Times like this, staying awake and alert is very important and it’s easier if you’ve got an iPhone. A new app from Cafe Amazon called ‘Drive Awake’ will keep you from falling asleep when driving.
Drive Awake for the iPhone and iPod Touch uses eye-tracking technology to see if you’re feeling drowsy when driving. Once you’ve installed the app, you’ll need to place your iPhone in front of you using a mount so it can use its front camera to track your eyes. When the app detects that your eyes are closing, it lets out a screeching alarm that is sure to wake you and your passengers.

However, since this app is developed by Cafe Amazon, it’ll only direct you to nearby Cafe Amazon coffee shops so you can get some coffee and then drive on safely. No other coffee shops are shown to you, even if they’re nearby. The developers should add more coffee shops as sometimes a Starbucks could be closer to your location than a Cafe Amazon.
Watch this video of the app in action below:
The app is only compatible with the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, since it uses the front facing camera. It’s available for free on the App Store. Go get it now and stop worrying about falling asleep on the wheel.
